Abstract: An analysis of computational linguistics applied to humor translation, proposing a deterministic framework for aligning homophonic puns across Romance, Germanic, and East Asian languages.
Direct translation of phonemic jokes produces non-sequiturs. Our approach defines an invariant conceptual triad: (1) everyday context, (2) double entendre pivot, and (3) absurd resolution. By holding the context and resolution invariant while substituting the phonetic pivot with a target-language homophone, the joke retains identical comedic velocity.
